"Coquí"
Carmen Gloria Pérez
This painting features the coquí, which is, I think, a true symbol of Puerto Rico, since they have only existed in Puerto Rico forever (until the recent findings in Hawaii). I emphasized the coquí and to make him stand out, because besides it being so tiny and elusive, their voice is powerful, just like that of Puertoricans. We have an island full of love, power & SO MUCH TALENT, it's incredible, especially it being such a small island. And the island itself was named "Rich Port" for a reason, it being rich in gold back in the day - hence why I made the coquí gold in color. I also wanted to share the "enchantment" of the island, as to why it is also named "La Isla Del Encanto".
