Yara
Cintrón
Ever since her first memory, Yara knew she wanted to be an artist. As time passed, she noticed how empowering art can be, and decided to dedicate her work to Puerto Rico's past and present history. Aware of all the times our colonizers have tried to erase our voices from the rest of the world, her artworks have been a clear rejection of that act of violence with the hopes to inspire others to relearn everything that has been unjustly done to us as an archipelago.
Yara expresses herself through different mediums such as digital and traditional drawing, painting and film; and has collaborated with other artists that focus on theater, performance and music. The Archipielago is her muse, and her compromise with it won't change no matter where she is.
